This evening, H.H. Pope Tawadros II joined the Monastery of St. Mary El-Surian in Wadi El-Natrun, in the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of H.G. Bishop Hedra, Metropolitan of Aswan and monks Heg. Fr. Basilios El-Suriany and Heg. Fr. Archilides El-Suriany. H.H. arrived at the monastery in the evening and was received by H.G. Bishop Mettaous, bishop and abbot of the monastery, and H.G. Bishop Hedra. The ceremony was held at the monastery’s cathedral where few words were exchanged with the final address was delivered by H.H. the Pope. The celebration was attended by a limited number of the bishops and monks due to the circumstances related to COVID-19.
In attendance were the following bishops: H.G. Bishop Bakhoum, bishop of Sohag, el-Mansha and el-Maragha; H.G. Bishop Thomas, bishop of el-Qusiya and Meir; H.G. Bishop Daniel, bishop of Maadi & el-Basateen, and General Secretary of the Holy Synod; H.G. Bishop Isithoros, bishop and abbot of the Monastery of St. Mary (Paromeos); H.G. Bishop Aghapius, bishop and abbot of the Monastery of St. Bishoy in Wadi el-Natrun; H.G. Bishop Dometius, bishop of October City and Ausim; and H.G. Bishop Youhanna, bishop of North Giza.
