This evening, H.H. Pope Tawadros II attended the celebrations organized by the Institute of Coptic Studies in collaboration with Zagazig University, for the Feast of the Entry of Christ and the Holy Family into Egypt. The celebrations were held at St. Reweis Theatre of St. Mark’s Cathedral in Abbasia, within the framework of reviving the Path of the Holy Family which has been adopted by the State as a global tourist path.
The celebration was witnessed by the following ministers: Dr. Khaled el-Anany the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Ambassador Nabila Makram, the Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy the Minister of Youth and Sports, Cairo’s Governor Mr. Khaled Abd el-Aal, Dr. Kamal Sharobeem the Supervisor of the Presidential Councils, Dr. Phoebe Fawzy the Deputy to Egypt’s Speaker of the Senate,and a large number of members of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Dr. Othman Shaalan, President of Zagazig University was also in attendance along with Dr. Maged Nagm, the President of Helwan university, and several other representatives from different universities, as well as public figures and bishops.
During the celebration, H.H. Pope Tawadros II delivered the final address during which he described the arrival of the Holy Family to Egypt as a bright page in our history. H.H. thanked the state of Egypt and its head, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, as well as the ministers and agencies, for their concerned efforts in their revival of the Path of the Holy Family. During the conclusion of the celebration, Dr. Ishaq Agban, the Dean of the Institute of Coptic Studies and Dr. Othman Shaalan, the President of Zagazig University, offered H.H. The Pope The celebration shield and the Pope honoured his guests.
This evening, and on June 1st [24 Pashons], the Coptic Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Entry of Christ and the Holy Family into Egypt.
