H.H. Pope Tawadros celebrated the divine liturgy for the Feast of Christ’s Entry into Egypt at the Church of Abu Serga (St. Sergius & St. Bacchus) in Old Cairo, one of the stops the Holy Family rested at, on their journey and during their stay in Egypt.
Bishops, priests, deacons, and the abbots and abbesses of the monasteries and convents, also joined in the prayers while safety precautions were implemented.
H.H. Pope Tawadros II consecrated this very church in Oct 2016 after its renovation and restoration to its original archaeological image.
Today the Coptic Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Arrival of the Holy Family in Egypt, one of the Minor Feasts of the Lord.
