Today H.H. Pope Tawadros II beautified the relics of the Saints of the Monastery of our Lady Saint Mary “Baramos Monastery” in Wadi el-Natrun: St. Moses the Strong who was martyred in 407 AD/123 AM and St. Isidore the Presbyter of Scetes who departed in 397 AD/113 AM. 

This evening H.H. the Pope arrived at the Baramos Monastery, prayed the Prayer of Thanksgiving, and took part in the rite of the beautification of the pure relics afterwards, with the participation of a number of their graces the bishops, besides H.G. Bishop Esizarous, the bishop and abbot of the monastery. 

Participating in the beautification of the relics were the following bishops: H.G. Bishop Mataeos, the bishop and abbot of the Syrian Monastery in Wadi el-Natrun; H.G. Bishop Raphael, General Bishop of Central Cairo; H.G. Bishop Dawoud, Bishop of Mansoura; H.G. Bishop Macarius, Bishop of Minya; H.G. Bishop Makary, General Bishop of Southern Shoubra; H.G. Bishop Angelos, General Bishop of Northern Shoubra; H.G. Bishop Hermina, General Bishop of the Eastern Districts of Alexandra; H.G. Bishop Sawerous, the Bishop and Abbot of the Monasteries of St. Thomas in Khatatba, Sohag, and St. Victor in Khatatba; H.G. Bishop Aghabious, the Bishop and Abbot of the Monastery of St. Bishoy in Wadi el-Natrun; and H.G. Bishop Joseph, General Bishop of Africa.

The Coptic Church celebrates next Thursday on July 1 (Paoni 24) the Feast of the Saints of the Baramos Monastery, with an earlier announcement by the monastery of this year’s celebrations being limited to the monks of the monastery alone, in accordance with the precautionary measures in place to combat Covid-19.
