Today H.H. Pope Tawadros II elevated Fr. Youhanna Abdel-Malak, the priest of the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul the Apostles in the city of Nubaria, to the rank of Hegumen after the church’s consecration.

The newly appointed hegumen was ordained a priest on February 21, 2003, to serve the Christian families in the city of Nubaria of the diocese of Beheira, Matrouh, and the Five Western Cities.

H.H. consecrated the church this morning, its four altars, bosom of the father, iconostasis, church’s icons, and baptistry – on the Feast of the Martyrdom of the Apostles Peter and Paul which the Church celebrates today.

H.H. celebrated the divine liturgy following his participation in the consecration prayers, along with H.E. Metropolitan Bakhomios of the diocese and eight bishops.
