Tuesday evening at the Papal Residence in Cairo, H.H Pope Tawadros II met the Coptic History Committee and with the members abroad via zoom.
There were negotiations between Metropolitans, Bishops and the members of the committee along with some suggestions that ended up formatting of four sub-committees for the work committee’s work, and they are:
- Committee to prepare a dictionary of highlighted personalities in church’s history during the past two hundred years.
- Committee for documentation the history of the local church.
- Committee for the Social History for the Copts
- Committee for preparation to Historical Documentary Films.
H.H praised the active participation by the members in the work of the Committee, and it was agreed on that the following meeting would be after two months.
During the meeting, the name of the deceased, Professor Amir Nasr, Professor of Ecclesiastical History in the Theological colleges, and member of the committee, as well as the name of the deceased, Professor Dr. Fawzi Estefanos, founder of St. Mark Foundation for Coptic History Studies, who both passed away during the current year.
It is noteworthy that the Coptic History Committee was formed last April, by Papal Decree No. 7 of 2021, as an extension of the first Coptic History Committee that was established in 1917.
