Today, H.H. Pope Tawadros II consecrated the new Cathedral of the monastery of St. John the Short’s Monastery at El Alamein Road with 14 of the church’s pontiffs.
As soon as H.H. reached the monastery, he unveiled the memorial plaque that dates to the inauguration of the cathedral and took a memorial picture with all the monastery monks.
After that, the consecration’s prayers started and it included the consecration of the main alter named by St. John the Short, the maritime front named by St. Mina and Pope Cyril VI and the tribal side named by St. George and St. Phillopateer along with the Father’s bosom and the Icon Holder.
After the consecration, the Divine Liturgy started and H.H delivered a speech “How to be beautiful soul?” and he mentioned that this could happen by:
- Humility: and inner humility, the St. Virgin Mary is the best example of humility.
- Obedience to the commandment: it makes the soul more beautiful; St. John the Short is an example of this.
- Acts of love: that we present to people out of love for Christ, St. John Chrysostom says: “The poor are the guardians of the kingdom.”
H.H congratulated H.G. Bishop Domadious for his efforts in reconstructing the monastery, and thanked H.G, all the monks and all the workers and whoever contributed and supported the monastery until it was reconstructed.
After the Divine Liturgy, H.H. inaugurate the new building of the monks’ cells, met them and gave them a spiritual speech. H.H. was also keen to bless the workers of the monastery, whom he met in a private meeting.
