H.H. Pope Tawadros II preached his weakly sermon at Wednesday meeting this evening from the Papal residence in Cairo. It was aired exclusively through Cristian’s channels and C.O.C channel that is affiliated to the church’s media center via internet without audience.
H.H. started from the beginning of September a new serious of sermons in his weekly Wednesday’s meeting throw out Psalm 37 titled by “Lessons of Wisdom” and the “Wait on the Lord, and keep his way” subject is the Fifteenth lesson in this serious.
H.H. continued his series of contemplations on wisdoms from Psalm 37, specifically teaching from verse 34 which says:
Wait on the LORD, and keep His way, and He shall exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
And he pointed out that waiting is one of the most powerful wisdom lessons/practices and discussed several reasons for this:
1- Why is it wise to wait? The wise person waits because he/she knows that:
God is Ruler over all and “He makes everything beautiful in His time” (cf. Eccl 3:11),
The wise person has strong faith and hope and mentally comprehends that waiting delivers powerful results and is a strong influence,
Waiting is a safe approach and so it protects a person from falling/sinning.
What is a wise person waiting for?
The “greater waiting” that a wise person awaits is the Kingdom. And so with effort and perseverance, the wise person seeks and hopes that this goal will be achieved with the help of the Bible, the Church, and repentance, and he looks forward to the attainment of this, with longing and hope. 8 characteristics/markers of a wise person while they wait.
