Metropolitan Pakhomious Metropolitan of Behira, Matrouh, Pentapolis & Five Western Cities
His Holiness Pope Tawadros II prays the Holy Liturgy this morning in the vineyard of St. Mark the Apostle at the headquarters of the Diocese of Beheira, Matrouh, and the five western cities in Damanhour, as part of the Diocese’s celebrations of the golden jubilee of the ordination of H.E. Metropolitan Pakhomious as bishop.
Several church rabbis, the congregation of priests of the diocese, the choir of deacons, and some of the people participated in the mass.
And he gave His Holiness the Pope’s sermon Mass, during which the five features of eating evangelism and service, and through the commandment of Christ the last to his disciples,
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Amin.”
(Matthew 28:19-20).
His Holiness divided this divine commandment into five features that distinguish Christian preaching, which was achieved by H.E. Metropolitan Pakhomious, which are:
The first feature: “Go.”
What’s meant here is to go to the geographical dimension, and he pointed out that the disciples went east, west, north, and south, and one of the fruits of that was the coming of St. Mark to Egypt. He added that “go” also means moving and not still, and the diocese of Beheira is the widest. Geographically, in our church, the commandment “Go” must be applied in it, which was achieved by H.G Bishop Pakhomious by serving people and visiting them everywhere.
The second feature: “Disciple”
It expresses the human dimension, as the discipleship relationship is one of the highest human relationships. How glorious are the person who learns from the elders and the elderly, and the priest and the servant must put in his heart to be a disciple, and the successful person is the one who becomes a disciple throughout his life with humility, H.E. Metropolitan Pakhomious took care of discipleship through Paying attention to ministerial preparation classes, establishing the seminary, holding spiritual days for youth, servants, and consecrated persons, and others.
The third feature: “Baptize them”
It is the ecclesiastical dimension, and it is intended to transfer the ecclesiastical life to every heart, and H.E. Metropolitan Pakhomious achieved this with the idea of a mobile altar to deliver the church to all its children everywhere.
The fourth feature: “Teach them”
The Lord Christ is the good teacher, teaching by faith, theology, and creed. All of this is firmly rooted in the mountains of the Church, and no one will be able to budge it. These are the strong foundations upon which H.E. Metropolitan Pakhomious built his teaching.
The fifth feature: “I am with you”.
And it is the faith dimension, as we serve with Christ, we move and Christ moves with us, and H.E. Metropolitan Pakhomious had this faith, and as the late Pope Shenouda said: “Anba Pakhomious started from Nothing!!”, and he reached all this over fifty years.
