His Holiness Pope Tawadros II received, at the Papal residence in Cairo, this afternoon, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense and Military Production, accompanied by Lieutenant-General Osama Askar, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, leaders of the main branches and several leaders of the armed forces, where they congratulated His Holiness on the occasion of Glorious Christmas.
His Holiness expressed his thanks and appreciation to the men of the armed forces for their sincere patriotic efforts, stressing that Egyptians of all sects stood by their great army in the face of all the challenges facing the country and that everyone would remain at the heart of one man to serve the country and protect its security and stability.
For his part, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces affirmed that Egypt will always remain strong with the unity of its national fabric capable of facing all challenges, noting that the men of the armed forces on the covenant always put Egypt’s unity and national security in mind, giving their lives for the homeland, expressing the pride of the armed forces in the national positions of His Holiness the Pope Tawadros II, praying to God to restore this occasion to Egypt and the Egyptians with security and stability.
The congratulatory guests were received, along with His Holiness the Pope, by H.E. Metropolitan Marcos, Metropolitan of Shubra El-Khaymah, H.G. Bishop Danial, Bishop of Maadi, Basatin & Dar Elsalam and Secretary of the Holy Synod, H.G. Bishop Ermia, The General Bishop, H.G. Bishop Yolios, General Bishop of Coptic Cairo, Manial & Fom ElKhalig, Fr. Sergius Sergius, representative of the Patriarchate in Cairo, and Monk Fr. Kirolos St. Bishoy, Director of the Office of His Holiness the Pope, Fr. Mousa Ibrahim, the Church’s official spokesman, and Mrs Barbara Soliman, Director of the Papal Office for Projects.
