Today at the Papal Residence in Cairo, H.H. Pope Tawadros II received HE Ambassador Michael Quaroni, Italy’s Ambassador to Egypt, who came to get acquainted with His Holiness the Pope after assuming his new position in Egypt three months ago.
The dialogue exchanged the close thought and nature between the Egyptian and Italian peoples.
His Holiness referred to his numerous visits to Italy, including his participation in the World Prayer Day, which was held in Bari in 2018, in the presence of H.H. Pope Francis and many patriarchs.
For his part, the Ambassador referred to his country’s embrace of open dialogue and freedom of religion, as he saw in Egypt a good example of tolerance and good coexistence between religions.
His Holiness stressed that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian government are working on the principles of equality, respect for others and acceptance of diversity.
