Today, at 3:00 PM, the Funeral Prayers were held for the blessed Hegumen Rather Arsanious Wadid, Priest of the Church of the St. Virgin Mary and St. Paul the Apostle in Karmouz, who was martyred after a treacherous stab wound by an unknown person yesterday evening.
The Church of St. Mark’s in Alexandria witnessed a huge number of the Alexandrian people who filled the sides of the church and extended to the church’s outer courtyard to bid farewell to the deceased father.
H.G Bishop Ermia, General Bishop, H.G. Bishop Pavly, General Bishop of Montaza, H.G. Bishop Elarion, General Bishop of West Alexandria, H.G. Bishop Hermina, General Bishop of East Alexandria and H.G. Bishop Elarion, Bishop of Red Sea, participated in funeral prayers.
In addition to, Fr. Sergius Sergius, Patriarchal Vicar in Cairo, Fr. Abraam Emil, Patriarchal Vicar in Alexandria, also participated in funeral prayers along with the Synod of the priests of Alexandria and a number of the monastic fathers
H.G Bishop Pavly, delivered a speech of condolence, in which he indicated that the blood of “Father Arsany” watered the land of Alexandria, as it was watered by the blood of St. Mark the Apostle who preached in Egypt. As for H.G Bishop Hermina, he conveyed the condolences of H.H Pope Tawadros II, as H.G read the text of the message of condolence sent by H.H. yesterday.
After the prayers were over, the pure body was carried in a private car, and was headed to St. Mina’s Monastery, Mariout for burial, in the cemetery of the martyrs of Alexandria.
