Today, evening, H.H. Pope Tawadros II delivered his weekly sermon of Wednesday meeting from the church of Transfiguration at the papal residence at Logos Center in the Monastery of St. Bishoy in Wadi El Natroun. The sermon was broadcasted on the Official Coptic Website, the Christian satellite channels and the C.O.C channel of the Church’s Media Center on the Internet.
His Holiness completed the new educational series “Marriage Union” as a basis for building a holy Christian family, and how the blessing of the mystery of marriage is present in the family, and the importance of good dialogue, as he dealt with the third chapter of the Epistle of St. James the Apostle (James 3:1-12), as well as a verse from a book Proverbs “Well words are honey witness, sweet to the soul, and healing to the bones” (Proverbs 16:24), and he explained the three types of dialogue:
1- Culture of dialogue: the ability to think well, express and appreciate choosing the right time and in any way.
2- Quarrel culture: the goal is to win one over the other.
3- The culture of the wall: isolation, suspicion, or meaningless silence.
And His Holiness set a slogan for good dialogue within the family from the Book of Proverbs, “As for the tongue of the wise, it heals” (Proverbs 12:18). He referred to the following vocabulary of good speech:
The words of love soberly and understandably on both sides cause emotional and psychological satiety, “a full soul tramples on honey, and for a hungry soul, every bitterness is sweet” (Proverbs 27:7).
The words of compassion save man, “joy with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15).
Speak respectfully through voice and words, especially in front of others, and without sarcasm.
Words of encouragement give enthusiasm to work, an explosion of energy, and a step forward more and more.
Gentle and sober words of praise give a person inner joy.
The words of apology end and solve many problems, “a soft answer turns away anger, and painful words arouse anger” (Proverbs 15:1).
The words of thanks give a Christian spirit to the place, “We thank you, Lord, for every condition and every condition and in every condition.”
Speech positive guidance gently and tenderly.
The words of admonition in an accurate scale and accompanied by the spirit of love, “And if your brother sins against you, go and reprimand him” (Matthew 18:15).
The words of prayer for some and others preserve our homes.
This educational series comes in line with the launch of the “My Holy Family” year, which came as a recommendation from the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church in its plenary session held on June 9, and in the consolidation of the principles and values of a normal Christian family, as His Holiness mentioned in the first episode of the series on June 15.
