This afternoon, H.H. Pope Tawadros II prayed the funeral prayers of the late H.G. Bishop Isaac, the general bishop and spiritual father of the Monastery of St. Macarius The Alexander in Jabal al-Qalali, in St. Mark’s Cathedral in Alexandria. H.E. Metropolitan Pakhomious, Metropolitan of Behira, Matrouh, Pentapolis & Five Western Cities and Abbot of St. Macarius The Alexander Monastery, H.E Metropolitan Antonius, Metropolitan of Jerusalem & The Near East, twenty bishops, the Patriarchal Vicars in Alexandria and Cairo, the congregation of the monks of the Monastery of St. Macarius of Alexandria in Jabal al-Qalali, monks from a number of Coptic monasteries, the priests from Alexandria and Cairo and a number of dioceses, also contributed in the funeral prayers.
H.G Bishop Danial, Bishop of Maadi and the Holy Synod Secretary, thank H.H, And to the members of the Holy Synod, and to the leaders of the governorates of Alexandria and Behira in the name of H.E. Metropolitan Pakhomious.
As for H.E, he narrated his memories with the late Bishop as their relation has lasted since the middle of the last century.
Then H.H delivered a speech in which he summarized the life of the late Bishop Isaac in three features:
1- Patience and endurance: He lived in patience “with your patience acquire yourselves” (Luke 21:19). Patience is the virtue that a person acquires himself.
2- A pious monk: He lived monasticism as it should be and with all piety.
3- A wise ruler: He had the experiences of the elders and many spiritual experiences.
He concluded by offering condolences in the name of the Holy Synod, to H.E. Metropolitan Pakhomious, and H.G Bishop Mattaus, Bishop and Abbot of the Syriac Monastery, in which the late bishop was intimidated, and to the congregation of the monks of the two monasteries and to those who disciplined by H.G and his books.
H.G. Bishop Issac, the general bishop, passed away yesterday at the age of 85 and had a monastic life that lasted for 59 years. H.H and the Holy Synod mourned him.
