The Coptic Orthodox Church, led by H.H. Pope Tawadros II, mourns Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, who left our world today after being on the throne as Queen of Great Britain for over 70 years, leaving behind a great legacy of noble humanitarian work, strong support to human rights, and religious freedom.
We specially note her good relationship with our Coptic Church and her support in our continual presence in Britain to service our congregation there. This support was manifested in granting the Coptic bishop, His Grace Bishop Angaelos of London, the title of Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE).
We ask for heavenly comfort to Her Majesty’s immediate family and all the members of the Royal Family, as well as the British people and the Commonwealth.
