His Holiness Pope Tawadros II delivered his sermon this evening which was held in St. Mark’s Cathedral in Alexandria in the presence of many Bishops an priests and the church was filled by the congregation.
The sermon was broadcast on Christian channels and C.O.C. and over the internet.
His Holiness continued the educational series “The Dictionary of Marriage” and he referred to the Gospel of Matthew chapter 25 about the “Parable of the Talents” and how it relates to the family life. His Holiness spoke about the importance of discovering the talents our children have while raising them up.
1- God grants all of us talents depending on our capabilities and according to His will
“Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” (Matthew 25:21)
2- No one has no talents, every one of us has talents, sometimes we cannot discover them ourselves so people around us can help us discover our talents.
3- You gain more talents when you use the one you have, but your talent will die off if you do not us it
“There is no grant without increasing except the one without thanksgiving”
Encouraging children has a huge impact on them and parents should not neglect their children’s talents.
His Holiness stressed on the importance of the effect of encouragement through
Healthy psychological development, even if encouragement is on small things, whether the encouragement is on mental, social, service or artistic talents. Encouragement makes the impossible and brings great results for our children
The importance of remaining humble because God grants us our talents to use to serve others
The spirit of wise adventures, because life consists of continuous work without stopping
This series is the second educational series for the “Christian Family”, coinciding with the launch of the year “My Family is Holy”, which came as a recommendation from the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church during their meeting, to consolidate the principles and values of a Christian family.
