Today, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II received the representatives of development partners in the Coptic Orthodox Church, in the presence of His Grace Bishop Yolios, General Bishop of Old Cairo and the Bishopric of Service, and Fr. Bishoy Charles, responsible for the Papal Office for Social Welfare, and Fr. Rafaeel Tharwat, deputy of bishop of public services, and the officials of the organizations working in the field of community development in the church, which are:
The Bishopric of Public and Social Services, the Service of the Shepherd and the Mother of Light, the Papal Office for Social Care, the Papal Office for Projects, the Service of Anba Abraam in Canada, the Coptic Institute for Church Management and Development, and the Coptic Orphans service.
The meeting included a presentation of the committee’s activities and works during the past period, especially the database of development work in the dioceses, as well as a presentation of the experience of training and establishing a development office in one of the dioceses.
H.H. also lead an open discussion about the future plan for the committee’s work, especially in light of the Coptic Orthodox Church joining the National Alliance for Civil Development Action and its support for the state’s efforts to meet the needs of the poorest and provide a decent life for all Egyptians during the coming period.
