His Holiness Pope Tawadros II witnessed this evening the premiere of the movie “The Disciple”, which was shown at St. Rewise’s Theater in St. Mark’s Cathedral in Abbaseya. It is about the life story of St. Tadros, the disciple of St. Pachomius, the founder of the cenobitic monasticism, one of the most prominent systems of Coptic monasticism.
The film was produced by the Church of the Virgin Mary in Ard El Golf, Heliopolis.
After the end of the film, His Holiness gave a speech in which he indicated that monasticism is the shining page of the Church, and that the people of the Church in the current era are employing the capabilities of the era with all its technological progress to revive the life of the Church Fathers from the fourth century. By this they prove that the Church is alive from generation to generation, referring to the monastic principle of “the dissolution of all in connection with the One (God).”
His Holiness also stressed that Egypt is protected, a special protection thanks to the prayers raised in the monasteries throughout the day, so if all countries were in the hands of God, then Egypt would be in the heart of God.
H.H. concluded by thanking the work team and everyone who participated in this film.
After the end of the speech, His Holiness honored the work team.
