This afternoon (Sunday), H.H. Pope Tawadros II visited the monastery of Saint Anba Oor, Bishop of Fayoum, as part of his pastoral visit to the Diocese of Fayoum and its monasteries, which he began this morning. This coincides with the commemoration of the departure of the intercessor of Fayoum, Saint Anba Abraam, Bishop of Fayoum and Giza (1881 – 1914), which is celebrated by the Coptic Church tomorrow (Monday).
His Holiness prayed the prayer of thanksgiving, then listened to an explanation of the stages of work in the monastery, given by the monk, Father Timothaous Al-Naqaluni, who is supervising the establishment of the monastery. He highlighted that the monastery is being built in the style of ancient Coptic monasteries, using red bricks purchased from old homes that are being demolished.
Pope Tawadros expressed his admiration for the architectural style of the monastery, praising the great effort that went into building it. His Holiness visited the landmarks of the monastery and greeted all those working there.
