H.H. Pope Tawadros II received at the Papal Residence in Cairo, a group of youth from the Diocese of the Southern United States of America, who came to Egypt last week, accompanied by Father Jerome Maximous, a priest from the same diocese. They provide educational and awareness-raising services in a number of churches in the villages of Upper Egypt.
During the meeting, His Holiness praised the young people’s interest in coming to Egypt to provide these services. He was also keen to know their impressions of the atmosphere of the services they provided, as well as their impressions of the archaeological sites they visited. At the end, His Holiness gave them some souvenirs.
The group made the most of their trip to the motherland and visited some archaeological sites and a number of Coptic churches and monasteries.
It is worth noting that this service trip was carried out in coordination between the Diocese of the Southern United States of America and the “HIGH” office, which specializes in communication between the dioceses of the Coptic Church abroad and the areas most in need of service in the dioceses within Egypt. It is the office for which a decision was issued by the Holy Synod in its last session in March 2024. The office’s name is “HIGH”, an abbreviation of its slogan (Hands in God’s Hand).
