Today (Wednesday), H.H. Pope Tawadros II met at the Papal Residence in St. Mark’s Cathedral in Alexandria with a group of priests from churches in Mid Alexandria Sector, who are participants in the “Complete Your Service” program for fathers who received the sacrament of priesthood from 2012 onwards.
The meeting began with a speech by Hegumen Father Abraam Emil, Deputy General of the Patriarchate in Alexandria, during which he expressed his appreciation for His Holiness’ encouragement of the priests and his support for the “Complete Your Service” program. Following this, Father Kyrillos Fathy, the program coordinator, presented the first seed of the idea of the program and its beginning in 2021 through the Coptic Institute for Church Management and Development (COPTICAD), which continues to this day.
Pope Tawadros gave a lecture entitled “The Priest and Fatherhood,” in which he expressed his admiration for the program and its positive impact on the service of the priest. His Holiness referred to the verses of the first chapter of First Thessalonians, describing the role of fatherhood in four main points through the letters of the Arabic word itself: trust, sacrifice, poise and heavenly gifts.
He pointed out that the spirit of perfect and continuous fatherhood requires:
1- Organized time.
2- Energy for work.
3- Active memory.
After the talk, His Holiness led a discussion with the priests.
The meeting was attended by Hegumen Father Abraam Emil, General Deputy of the Patriarchate in Alexandria.
