Today (Sunday), H.H. Pope Tawadros II received at the Papal Residence in Cairo a delegation from Sohag University headed by Professor Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of the University.
The delegation consisted of the vice presidents of the university, a number of deans of its faculties and some of its professors, in addition to a delegation of male and female students, in the presence of His Eminence Anba Bakhoum; Metropolitan of Sohag.
H.E. Anba Bakhoum spoke at the beginning of the meeting, thanking His Holiness for receiving the delegation from Sohag University, noting that it was the first meeting between Pope Tawadros and a delegation from a university in Upper Egypt. He praised the loving relations between Sohag University and the Church in Sohag.
Following this, the President of the University spoke, offering his greetings to His Holiness for fulfilling his request and receiving the university delegation, stressing his appreciation for Pope Tawadros as a national symbol, evidenced by his wise stances in the defining moments of the nation’s life.
For his part, His Holiness welcomed his guests, stressing that such visits increase rapprochement and thus create a spirit of love among Egyptians. He pointed out that we live around the Nile River, from which we take four things: water, tranquil nature, the spirit of worship, and the natural national unity that we call national love, as we all share the love of the country.
Pope Tawadros highlighted that Egypt is proud that it was honored to receive the Holy Family, who came to it fleeing persecution.
He added: “We thank God that at a time when there is turmoil and unrest around us, our country lives in peace and security, thanks to its united people and its leadership, represented by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
His Holiness concluded by calling on everyone to be diligent in all aspects of life.
