H.H. Pope Tawadros II expressed his regret at the expansion of the war in the Middle East region, calling for prayers for the end of the wars, and for the suffering families affected by every kind of war, as well as the injured.
This came at the conclusion of his weekly sermon at the Wednesday meeting held this evening in St George’s Church; Almaza.
Pope Tawadros pointed out that the war began in the territories of Palestine and has now moved to Lebanon. He highlighted that wars, violent conflicts, killing, destruction, injuries, and extreme need are all unacceptable.
His Holiness the Pope appealed to everyone to uphold the values of wisdom, humanity and mercy.
He added: “We trust that God is the Pantocrator, and no one should think that God is silent about what is happening. Rather, He gives man an opportunity to repent and return, and at the appropriate time God will speak and extend His hand to the suffering and wounded, and to take revenge on the oppressors.”
Pope Tawadros expressed his pain for children who grow up in atmospheres of war, as well as youth whose dreams and aspirations for the future are destroyed by wars.
He concluded with a call to pray that God preserves our country and grants it continued stability, especially on the economic level, and grant wisdom to officials, considering that Egypt is a major country.
