This afternoon, H.H. Pope Tawadros II received, at the Papal Residence in Cairo, Father Remon Girgis, General Visitor of the Franciscan Friars, Father Mourad Maglaa, Regional President of the Franciscan Friars in Egypt, and Father Bakhoum Awaida, Secretary of the General Visitor. They were accompanied by Father Boutros Daniel, President of the Catholic Center for Cinema.

At the beginning of the meeting, Father Remon conveyed to Pope Tawadros the greetings of His Beatitude Patriarch John X (Yazigi), Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East.

The meeting discussed the important role of Franciscan schools in Egyptian society.

The delegation referred to the Franciscans’ celebration of the 800th anniversary of Saint Francis of Assisi, one of the saints of the Catholic Church and the founder of the Franciscan Order.
