H.H. Pope Tawadros II congratulated the Egyptian people on the occasion of the fifty-first anniversary of the October victories, noting that this victory is a white page in the history of the Egyptian military, and our history as Egyptians. It is the fruit of the spirit of precision, planning, and sound vision, and God blessed all of this, resulting in the victory and the liberation of the land of Sinai. He added: “As we remember the victory, we also remember the martyrs, the injured, and all those who contributed to this great work.”
This came during his sermon at this evening’s weekly Wednesday meeting held in the Church of St Mary and St Pope Athanasius the Apostolic in Nasr City.
Regarding the current situation in the region, His Holiness said: “We pray these days for the safety of our country and the safety of the Middle East region, for God to grant wisdom to leaders for the peace of nations, children, women and men, their future, education and health.” He added: “We pray and believe that prayer moves mountains and moves hearts and minds,” stressing that his listeners should always pray for these matters.
He concluded: “We thank God for the peace and stability of our country, even if there are some crises, but the blessing of peace and security is invaluable.”
