Today (Thursday), H.H. Pope Tawadros II welcomed Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf, the Ambassador of Iraq to Egypt, at the Papal Residence in Cairo.
The Iraqi ambassador expressed his pleasure in being in Egypt and his appreciation for the fraternal relations between the two countries.
In turn, His Holiness provided an overview of the history of the Coptic Orthodox Church and its spiritual and social role. The meeting also included a discussion on efforts to achieve world peace, with Pope Tawadros emphasizing the national unity that brings together all Egyptians, regardless of their denominations.
The ambassador inquired about the relationship between the Coptic Church and other Churches, to which His Holiness affirmed the positive relations with all Churches, stressing that love is the foundation upon which the Church builds its interactions with everyone.
The discussion also addressed the importance of combating the phenomenon of homosexuality and preserving Eastern values and beliefs. Pope Tawadros pointed out the dangers of this phenomenon, emphasizing that the destruction of the family leads to the destruction of society and nations, calling for collective efforts to uphold moral and societal values.
