Today (Thursday), H.H. Pope Tawadros II received Mr. Éric Chevallier, the French Ambassador to Egypt.
During the meeting, their discussion covered various topics, including education and the encouragement of teaching the French language. They also addressed the impact of economic conditions on some families’ ability to send their children to school or pursue higher education.
In the context of wars, His Holiness emphasized the importance of praying for world peace and the need to stop conflicts, highlighting the role of prayer in promoting global peace.
Pope Tawadros also affirmed the strong relationships between the Coptic Church, Al-Azhar, and other Churches. He referred to a recent meeting hosted by the Coptic Orthodox Church at the Logos Center in the Monastery of Saint Bishoy in Wadi El-Natroun, which brought together all Orthodox churches worldwide.
Regarding homosexuality, the ambassador inquired about the Church’s stance on this issue. His Holiness clarified the Coptic Church’s complete rejection of this phenomenon.
The discussion also touched on youth and how to preserve their faith amidst the growing phenomenon of atheism. Pope Tawadros explained that this is achieved by fostering young Copts’ connection to the church from an early age through Sunday schools and youth meetings, which strongly reinforce moral and religious values in their lives.
