Today (Sunday), H.H. Pope Tawadros II welcomed General Abdel Mageed Saqr, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, at the Papal Residence in Cairo. He was accompanied by General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, along with commanders of the main branches and other military leaders, who came to extend their greetings to His Holiness for the Glorious Feast of Nativity.
Pope Tawadros expressed his gratitude for the visit and greetings, highlighting his appreciation for the Armed Forces, which he described as a model of discipline and dedication. He added, “We hold the Armed Forces in the highest regard and consider it a great honor for anyone to be part of this national institution.” His Holiness also acknowledged the significant responsibilities carried by members of the Armed Forces, especially in light of current regional challenges.
Speaking about the Nativity Feast, His Holiness noted that it always comes at the beginning of the year, making it a wonderful way to start the year with celebrations.
For his part, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces extended his sincere greetings, along with those of his accompanying delegation, for the new year and Nativity Feast. He emphasized that the Armed Forces are composed of the sons of the Egyptian people, making it a military institution with a proud and honorable national history.
