This evening, H.H. Pope Tawadros II attended the celebration held by St. Mark the Apostle’s Church in Shoubra to mark 17 centuries since the convening of the Council of Nicaea (325–2025).
The event, hosted at the Anba Reweis Theater in the St. Mark Cathedral in Abbassia, was titled “325” under the theme: “Receive – Preserve – Deliver.”
This celebration marks the first of the church’s commemorations of 17 centuries since the convening of the Ecumenical Council of Nicaea, following a recommendation by the Holy Synod during its latest session.
The program of the celebration was integrative, aligning with its vision, mission, and objectives under the theme “Receive – Preserve – Deliver.” It began with a theatrical performance, followed by a puppet show, a performance by the blacklight theater team, and then an operetta featuring choirs of various age groups.
The operetta highlighted the roles of several patriarchs of the Church in preserving the faith, including Pope Athanasius the Apostolic, Pope Timothy I, Pope Cyril I, Pope Dioscorus, and up to the popes of the 20th and 21st centuries: Pope Kyrillos VI, Pope Shenouda III, and Pope Tawadros II.
