This Saturday evening, H.H. Pope Tawadros II attended the celebration of the Shepherd and Mother of Light service on the occasion of its silver jubilee.
The celebration included a speech by H.G. Bishop Yolyous (General Bishop of Old Cairo and the Bishopric of Public and Social Services), in which he expressed his appreciation for the services and support provided by the Shepherd and Mother of Light ministry to the dioceses. Another speech was delivered by Dr. Ehab Faltaous (Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Shepherd and Mother of Light Family), where he highlighted the beginnings of the ministry and its gradual growth over the past 25 years.
The choir team performed a collection of Church hymns and praises. The celebration concluded with a word from His Holiness, who expressed his deep appreciation for the ministry’s slogan: “Lifting the destitute to the level of humanity.” He reflected on the meaning of humanity, addressing three points:
1. Accept the person as they are- regardless of their condition or status, they are accepted.
2. Love them from my heart as if they were myself- filled with the sacrificial love of Christ: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
3. Serve others- following the example of Christ, who came to serve. Therefore, the servant represents the presence of Christ to every person they serve.
