This afternoon, H.H. Pope Tawadros II received Ambassador Albert G. Dohl, the Ambassador of the Republic of Ivory Coast to Cairo.
During the meeting, His Holiness provided an overview of the history of the Coptic Orthodox Church and its global presence, including its service in Ivory Coast.
Attending the meeting was Hegumen Stephanos Morcos, one of the priests responsible for church service in African countries. He requested that the ambassador facilitate an agreement that would grant the Church certain exemptions, particularly concerning visas, customs duties, and land acquisition for building churches and establishing social and medical projects, such as clinics.
He also emphasized the importance of agreements with the Ivorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate the dispatch of medical missions, introduce a mobile clinic, and obtain the necessary licenses and permits for its operation.
For his part, Ambassador Albert G. Dohl requested that the Coptic Church establish a technical school in Ivory Coast, particularly in the fields of electricity and agriculture. His Holiness agreed, noting that the Church already runs a highly successful technical school in Burundi.
