H.H. Pope Tawadros II received a tourist delegation from the Romanian Orthodox Church at the Papal Residence in Cairo. The delegation came to Egypt to visit its tourist landmarks, including some sites along the Holy Family’s trail.
The delegation consisted of four bishops, along with priests, monks, and congregation members.
Pope Tawadros welcomed them and provided an overview of Egypt’s rich history and the origins of the Coptic Orthodox Church. He also briefly outlined the seven civilizations that have influenced Egypt: Pharaonic, Coptic, Islamic, Arabic, African, Mediterranean, Roman, and Greek.
Additionally, His Holiness spoke about the journey of the Holy Family, the era of martyrdom that the Church experienced in its early centuries, and the monastic movement that originated in the Coptic Church through Saint Anthony, the father of monasticism worldwide.
He also highlighted the balanced relationship between the Church and all state institutions, praising the love and cooperation between the Church, the President, the government, Al-Azhar, and other Churches.
