H.H. Pope Tawadros II extended his greetings to the Church’s congregation on the occasion of the Glorious Feast of the Cross, which falls today. He did so at the beginning of his weekly sermon during the Wednesday meeting. In his congratulatory message, His Holiness said: “I extend my greetings to you on the Feast of the Cross, which we celebrated today, the 10th of Baramhat. It always falls during the Great Lent and coincides with March 19th each year. We also have another celebration of the Feast of the Cross on the 17th of Tout, at the beginning of the Coptic year, and we continue celebrating it for three days. Between March and September, we also commemorate the Cross for a full day on Good Friday, during which we relive the events of Christ’s crucifixion through prayers, hymns, readings, meditations, and a beautiful and comprehensive rite that is deeply cherished by the Copts.”
His Holiness held the weekly Wednesday meeting this evening at St. Anthony’s Church in the Papal Residence in Cairo. The topic of the sermon was the parable of “The Two Sons” from the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 21. This discussion is part of the series “Pairs in the Parables of Christ,” which he began at the start of the Holy Forty-Day Fast.
