H.H. Pope Tawadros II attended a ceremony on Wednesday honoring students of the Adult Education Program affiliated with the Bishopric of General and Social Services. The event took place at Anba Reweis Theater in St Mark’s Cathedral in Abbassiya, with the presence of several church bishops, priests, and servants of the bishopric.
The ceremony featured a variety of segments, including choir performances, poetry recitations, and success stories from several students. Speeches were delivered by H.G. Bishop Yolyous (General Bishop of Old Cairo and the Bishopric of Services), the monk Father Boulis Ava Mina (responsible for developing the educational package at the bishopric), Mrs. Samah Nabil (a member of the technical office of the General Authority for Adult Education), Engineer Margaret Sarofim (Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity), and Ambassador Nabila Makram (Head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work). His Holiness also addressed the attendees.
In his speech, Pope Tawadros congratulated the students who completed the program and welcomed the attending guests. He praised the efforts of the servants in the Adult Education Program and the Bishopric of Services, as well as the inspiring success stories of the students.
His Holiness emphasized that education and success are blessings from God and these opportunities given to man should be seized. He warned against “wasting time in vain” and stressed that life, service, and education are all opportunities and blessings from God to man. He noted that the most beautiful words are “You are successful,” while the worst word is “failure.”
Pope Tawadros further highlighted that success leads to more success, just as laziness leads to more laziness. He underscored the importance of social integration, stating that “we all need one another,” and encouraged adopting a culture of motivation and support as a way of life.
The ceremony concluded with the honoring of 600 male and female graduates who completed the program.
