This evening, H.H. Pope Tawadros II anointed the body of the late Hegumen Father Mikhail Ibrahim, Priest of St. Mark the Apostle’s Church in Shoubra, which is placed in the shrine of St. Athanasius the Apostolic at the St. Mark’s Cathedral in Abbassia. This was in commemoration of the golden jubilee of his departure (March 26, 1975 – March 26, 2025).
His Holiness proceeded to the shrine, accompanied by H.E. Metropolitan Maximous, Metropolitan of Benha and Quesna, H.G. Bishop Angelos, General Bishop of Northern Shoubra Churches, H.G. Bishop Nofer, Bishop of Shibin El-Qanater, the priests of St. Mark the Apostle’s Church in Shoubra, several members of the congregation, and some other priests. His Holiness prayed the Prayer of Thanksgiving and placed incense and spices on the tomb containing the blessed body of the late father.
He then gave a speech based on the verse: “For we are to God the fragrance of Christ” (2 Corinthians 2:15), highlighting that Father Mikhail was a model of a faithful servant. Despite the trials and hardships he faced, he remained steadfast in his service. The example he set continues to be a testimony to his life, and his sweet fragrance has endured throughout these years.
