Today, H.H. Pope Tawadros II attended the golden jubilee celebration of the monasticism of H.G. Bishop Kyrillos Ava Mina (Bishop and Abbot of the Monastery of Saint Mina the Wonderworker in Mariout (March 30, 1975 – March 30, 2025).
A large number of metropolitans and bishops were present at the celebration, including abbots of various monasteries, several monasteries and bishops who are sons of the monastery, and the monastery’s community of monks.
The celebration featured several speeches by metropolitans, bishops, and monks, as well as a documentary highlighting Bishop Kyrillos’ journey in the monastery. In his speech, Pope Tawadros congratulated the honored bishop, praising his loving and gentle nature. He also reflected on how the Monastery of Saint Mina and its monks bring to mind the verse: “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Luke 11:2). His Holiness then highlighted three characteristics that define both Bishop Kyrillos and the monastery, which also reflect the heavenly life:
1- Loyal Love
2- Perfect Mercy
3- Continuous Peace
To conclude, H.G. Bishop Kyrillos expressed his gratitude to Pope Tawadros for his presence at this special occasion. He also thanked the attending clergy and guests, acknowledging the monks’ efforts in the monastery’s development. He concluded by glorifying God, who works through His children.
