This evening, the body of the Thrice-Blessed His Eminence Metropolitan Pakhomious, Metropolitan of Beheira, Matrouh, and the Five Western Cities, and Abbot of St. Macarius of Alexandria’s Monastery in Mount Al-Qalali, and the Metropolitan Elder of the Coptic Orthodox Church, arrived from Cairo. This followed the conclusion of his funeral prayers, which were held earlier today at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Abbassia.

H.H. Pope Tawadros II, along with Beheira Governor Dr. Jacqueline Azer, led the procession receiving the body. The priests of the diocese insisted on carrying the body on their shoulders from the vehicle transporting it, starting from the road leading to Karma MarMarkos (the diocesan headquarters in Damanhour). They walked with it among crowds of diocesan members until they reached the Church of the Heavenly Hosts, where the body was placed before the altar to allow for a final farewell viewing.
