Today (Thursday), H.H. Pope Tawadros II inaugurated the services building of the Giza Diocese, which was constructed within the premises of the diocese headquarters.
Upon his arrival at the diocese headquarters, His Holiness was received by His Grace Bishop Theodosius (Bishop of Central Giza Diocese), along with several bishops and the priests of the diocese. A scout team played music in the cathedral courtyard to welcome him, and His Holiness unveiled the commemorative plaque marking the inauguration of the services building. Meanwhile, the diocese deacons’ choir chanted hymns to welcome the Patriarch, as joy filled the congregation upon his entry into the corridor leading to the deacons area. There, he prayed the Prayer of Thanksgiving. The deacons chanted the tunes of the Church, followed by a church praise performance by the choir.
H.G. Bishop Theodosius delivered a speech welcoming His Holiness and expressing gratitude. Engineer Adel El-Naggar, Governor of Giza, also gave a welcoming speech in honor of the Pope.
In his address, Pope Tawadros expressed his joy at the building’s inauguration, welcoming the governor and provincial leaders. He emphasized that the unity of the province’s leadership reflects the strength of the nation and its people. He highlighted that strong nations are built by great men and heroes, citing the Thrice-Blessed Metropolitan Pakhomious as an example—one of the remarkable figures whose name will be immortalized not only in Church history but in Egyptian history as a whole.
His Holiness noted that peacemaking is often called the “difficult industry” because it requires strong individuals willing to exert tremendous efforts to establish peace among people. He stressed that making peace is a responsibility for all those in leadership positions.
Following this, Pope Tawadros watched a performance by the scout team in the cathedral courtyard before touring the newly inaugurated services building. The facility includes an event hall, a theater, a floor for Sunday School classrooms, another floor for guest rooms, and various supporting services.
In the new theater, His Holiness, along with bishops, priests, consecrated servants, and deacons, watched performances by the diocesan choirs, a pantomime play, and a documentary showcasing the stages of the building’s construction.
