His Holiness Pope Tawadros II met this morning, at the Church of St. Mina in Bucharest, with His Eminence Archbishop Datev, Archbishop of the Armenian Orthodox Church, and His Eminence Archbishop Kais Sadiq, Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Church, along with Father Radu and Father Hovhannes. The meeting was attended by His Eminence Bishop Giovanni, Bishop of the Diocese of Central Europe, and the delegation accompanying His Holiness. The meeting took place as part of His Holiness’s current visit to Romania, within his pastoral tour of the Diocese of Central Europe, which began last Friday with a visit to Poland.

During the meeting, His Holiness listened to a presentation on the pastoral work of both churches. His Eminence Archbishop Datev explained that the Armenian Orthodox community in Romania numbers around five thousand people, who have lived in the country for approximately one thousand years. They are currently served by six priests across 22 churches in various regions, with close cooperation with the Coptic Orthodox Church.
For his part, His Eminence Archbishop Kais noted that the Greek Orthodox Church has been serving around 270 families for over forty years. The congregation worships in a historic church that dates back to the 13th century.

At the conclusion of the meeting, His Holiness and the archbishops exchanged commemorative gifts.
