His Holiness Pope Tawadros II met today with His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Mevlud Dudić, President of the Islamic Community in Serbia and Grand Mufti of Novi Pazar, along with his accompanying delegation.
Mufti Dudić praised Pope Tawadros for his messages of love, peace, and interfaith cooperation, commending the lecture His Holiness delivered yesterday at the Serbian Presidential Palace for its deep spiritual and humanitarian themes. He described the Pope’s words as a powerful global message for peace and coexistence, emphasizing: “God created people with diversity, and every majority has the responsibility to protect every minority — this is the essence of humanity.”
For his part, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II stressed the importance of dialogue and the exchange of experiences among religious leaders to foster a culture of peace and mutual living. He said: “Minority status is not always about numbers. In Egypt, Copts are not a minority — we are Egyptian citizens living alongside our Muslim brothers in one homeland, sharing the same rights and united by the same responsibilities.”
