His Holiness Pope Tawadros II received His Grace Bishop Emmanuel, the representative of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese in Serbia, who was accompanied by the diocese’s secretary.
During the meeting, Bishop Emmanuel presented an overview of the Romanian Orthodox Church’s history and presence in Serbia, explaining that it serves over 20,000 members of the Romanian Orthodox community through a number of priests ministering in various churches across the country.
In response, His Holiness Pope Tawadros spoke about the Coptic Orthodox Church, highlighting its apostolic roots dating back to the first century AD and its foundational role in the establishment of Christian monasticism through the life of Saint Anthony the Great, the Father of Monasticism. His Holiness emphasized the importance of “pastoral visitation” in church ministry, stressing that ongoing communication with the faithful is at the heart of genuine spiritual service.
The meeting was attended by H.G. Bishop Giovanni, Bishop of Central Europe.
