His Holiness Pope Tawadros II met this afternoon with His Eminence Archbishop Jan Graubner, Archbishop of Prague, as part of his current pastoral visit to Czechia. The meeting was attended by His Eminence Bishop Giovanni, Bishop of Central Europe; H.E. Ambassador Mahmoud Mostafa Afifi, Egypt’s Ambassador to Czechia; and members of the delegation accompanying His Holiness.
The meeting addressed the challenges facing the Church in Europe. The Archbishop noted that many people are now seeking comfort and luxury in ways that draw them away from the Church, emphasizing that the Catholic Church in Czechia is making significant efforts to strengthen its members’ relationship with the Church.
For his part, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II affirmed that cooperation between churches reflects love, acceptance of others, the exchange of experiences, and a shared sense of responsibility. He highlighted that the Church in Czechia is a historic church that has faced many challenges and must continue its mission in the same spirit, adding, “We pray for the whole world.” He also stressed the importance of people’s connection to the Holy Bible, as it is the source of light and life.
At the end of the meeting, His Holiness thanked the Archbishop for the warm welcome.
