The annual meetings of the committees of the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church began this morning at Saint Mark’s Cathedral in Abbassia. The morning sessions included meetings of the Public Relations Committee, the Media and Information Committee, and the Ecumenical Relations Committee.

The meetings continued in the evening with sessions of the Pastoral Care and Service Committee and the Family Committee.

The committees discussed a number of topics and reports submitted by the coordinators of the subcommittees.

The eight new bishops, who were ordained yesterday, participated in all the committee meetings to closely familiarize themselves with the activities and work of the Holy Synod.

According to the system of the Holy Synod, each committee submits its agreed-upon recommendations to the Synod’s general session, where they are issued as synodal recommendations or official decisions.

The remaining Synod committees are scheduled to resume their meetings tomorrow.
