Today, H.G. Bishop Yoannes, Bishop of Assiut, was elected Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
The election took place during the general session of the Synod, held this morning at the Logos Center in the Monastery of Saint Bishoy, Wadi El-Natroun. Additionally, three of the reverend bishops were elected as Assistant Secretaries:
-H.G. Bishop Stephanos, Bishop of Beba and El-Fashn
-H.G. Bishop Markos, Bishop of Damietta, Kafr El-Sheikh, and El-Barari, and Abbot of the Monastery of Saint Demiana in El-Barari
-H.G. Bishop Marc, Bishop of Paris and Northern France
The elections were conducted by secret ballot, and H.G. Bishop Yoannes, along with the Assistant Secretaries, won by an overwhelming majority.
Pope Tawadros II extended his heartfelt thanks to H.E. Metropolitan Danial (Metropolitan of Maadi), and his Assistant Secretaries, whose term of service has concluded in accordance with the Synod’s laws. The members of the Holy Synod joined His Holiness in expressing appreciation and gratitude for the significant efforts made by the Secretariat Committee over the past years.
