Today (Monday), H.H. Pope Tawadros II received at the Papal Headquarters in Cairo, a number of newly appointed Egyptian ambassadors from the recent diplomatic reshuffle. These ambassadors will represent Egypt in several countries, including: the Sultanate of Oman, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Vietnam, Kenya, Jordan, Armenia, as well as Egypt’s representatives to the United Nations and the consulates in New York, Riyadh, and Eilat.
During the meeting, His Holiness gave an overview of the history of the Coptic Church and its spiritual and societal role, both within Egypt and abroad. He highlighted the Church’s global presence, with 38 bishops serving in diaspora communities.
He emphasized that the Church does not play any political role; rather, it is a national institution with a spiritual and service-based mission. Pope Tawadros also mentioned the establishment of the “HIGH” office, which aims to encourage youth from the diaspora to visit Egypt and participate in cultural and service programs that strengthen their connection to their homeland.
For his part, Ambassador Yasser Shaaban conveyed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ gratitude to His Holiness, affirming the importance of cooperation between the Church and Egyptian embassies abroad to serve Egyptian communities and enhance Egypt’s image.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Pope Tawadros expressed his sincere wishes for the ambassadors’ success in their new roles.
