Thousands of people from the Al-Asafra district warmly and joyfully welcomed H.H. Pope Tawadros II this evening. Their enthusiastic reception was expressed through chanting spiritual hymns and ululations.

The gathering took place in the tent set up on the land adjacent to the Church of Saints Maximous anx Domadious, and Saint Moses the Strong on Street 45 in the Al-Asafra Qebly neighborhood of Alexandria. The event was held there due to the limited space in the church, which serves around 12,000 families.

His Holiness warmly greeted his children, expressing his gratitude for their heartfelt welcome. He also listened to a poem recited by one of the church’s servants.

In a special gesture, His Holiness was keen to explain and teach the verse: “Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith (1 Timothy 1:5).”

He pointed out that this verse sums up the entire Christian life, as the Christian believer is called to live with love from a pure heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith.
