His Holiness Pope Tawadros II celebrated the Lakan and Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Apostles at Karma House, King Mariout, in the presence of the youth participating in the World Service Week of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
His Holiness began his homily by congratulating the youth on the Feast of the Apostles, commemorating the martyrdom of Saints Peter and Paul, who represent the first and last of the apostles — Peter being the first of the disciples and Paul the last apostle — both martyred on the same day.
He reflected on the diversity in the methods of ministry between the two apostles, noting that through their differences, they both served Christ and completed the mission of evangelism throughout the world.
His Holiness also meditated on the question asked by Saint Paul to Christ at His appearance to him: “Lord, what do You want me to do?” (Acts 9:6). Although Paul had spent half his life unaware of Christ, he eventually dedicated his life to Him, becoming an ambassador in chains.
His Holiness advised the youth not to compare themselves with others, as Christ ordains each person’s life uniquely according to their own circumstances. He emphasized the importance of placing Christ at the center of one’s life, being content, and trusting that God will bear fruit in it.
The World Service Week for the youth of the Coptic Orthodox Church is the fifth service week for LOGOS Forum Forums 2018 and 2022, with the participation of around 80 young men and women from around the world. This year’s theme is “Discipleship.”
