This morning, at the Papal Residence in Alexandria, H.H. Pope Tawadros II received Dr. Alaa Ashmawy, Chairman of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, and Dr. Sanaa Radi, Vice President of the Authority for Higher Education, together with the accompanying delegation.
His Holiness welcomed the members of the Council and presented a historical overview of the Church of Alexandria and its pioneering role in education and pastoral ministry through the methodology of structured learning.
For his part, the Chairman of the Authority expressed his delight at meeting Pope Tawadros, and explained the standards and criteria required of any educational institution in order to receive accreditation. He further welcomed cooperation with the Coptic Orthodox Church, particularly in regard to coordination concerning the Theological Seminary in Alexandria.
Dr. Sameh Fawzy, faculty member of the Alexandria Theological Seminary, presented the Seminary’s vision, its organizational structure, methods of teaching, academic degrees, admission and registration procedures, as well as the processes of teaching and evaluation—seeking accreditation in accordance with quality standards.
The meeting was also attended by Hegumen Abram Emil, General Deputy of the Patriarchate in Alexandria, and Hegumen Andrawes Matta, Deputy of the Theological Seminary in Alexandria.
