His Holiness Urges those who Risk their Lives through Illegal Migration to Remain in Egypt and Seek Livelihood within their Homeland
H.H. Pope Tawadros II extended his heartfelt greetings to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to the Armed Forces, and to the people of Egypt on the occasion of the commemoration of the October 6 Victory, in a statement issued by the Church yesterday.
His Holiness also offered similar words of greetings at the conclusion of his sermon this morning, during the Divine Liturgy for the consecration of St. Mark the Apostle’s Church at the Monastery of Prince Theodore of Shotep in Manfalut.
His Holiness affirmed that Egypt is precious to us all, urging everyone to strive diligently, pursue their dreams through dedication and constructive projects, and to preserve and cherish the homeland.
Speaking about the youth who leave Egypt in search of work—particularly those who attempt to travel illegally by boats, endangering their lives—His Holiness advised them to remain in Egypt and seek their livelihood within their homeland, whether in their own towns or in other Egyptian cities.
He encouraged them to start small-scale projects that do not require a large capital, giving examples of successful models who succeeded in this field.
Regarding the history of the Coptic Church, Pope Tawadros stated that it is an ancient and apostolic Church, evangelized by Saint Mark the Apostle, and that Egypt became the first nation in Africa to receive the faith in the Lord Christ, being among the earliest countries in the world to know the Lord Christ.
