The Coptic Orthodox Church, under the leadership of H.H. Pope Tawadros II, extends its heartfelt congratulations to Professor Dr. Khaled El-Anany on his election as Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
His overwhelming victory, receiving a record number of votes unprecedented in the organization’s eighty-year history, reflects the great international confidence that Egypt enjoys as a nation, as well as the remarkable stature of the Egyptian candidate himself—distinguished by his outstanding academic and cultural record. He now joins the ranks of other distinguished Egyptians who have held prominent international positions, as Egypt’s honorable presence has never been absent from the global stage throughout history.
We pray that God may grant him wisdom and success in fulfilling his role in leading this international organization, and in realizing its vision and objectives in the fields of culture, education, and heritage preservation.
